This past Sunday my family and I watched the Easter message that I posted for our church. And the end, something struck me, that I did not see in our passage when I prepared the message and then delivered it on video. Cleopas and the other disciple who met Jesus on the road to Emmaus saw Jesus when He opened the Word and also their eyes (Luke 24:32.) I pointed out in the message that we recognize and know Jesus through the Word, because verse 32 credited the Word. But as I sat with my family on Sunday, I saw how the final verse (verse 35) said that they recognized Jesus “when He broke bread with them.” BAM! It hit me. We also know Christ through fellowship. It is through the Word and through fellowship. (I might also be able to build a case that it is through sacraments which is what communion/breaking of bread is.)
This really made me miss our being together in fellowship.
There is a way, however, that we can gather and have fellowship, and watch the video sermon together – ONLINE! It is how I am teaching my college classes right now. We can meet through the Zoom software (video-conferencing.) I have set up a Sunday morning gathering for anyone who wants to meet on Sunday, hear the message, and perhaps talk and pray afterward.
You can join-in by downloading the free Zoom software onto your computer, tablet, or smart phone before the Sunday morning meeting at 10:30a.m. Go to www.zoom.us for the software download or use this address to get it: https://cocc.zoom.us/j/97969725364
The second web address is what you will need to join us on Sunday morning. ON Sunday if you are asked for a meeting ID, is: 979 6972 5364
